It's fair to say that Ashley Cole's move to Roma has not gone according to plan. Injuries and poor form have restricted him to just 11 Serie A appearances in 16 months for the Italian outfit. The left-back has fallen so far down the pecking order that he has not be assigned a squad number this season.
However, while not getting a jersey number is surely a blow to Cole, one would imagine that Roma's latest attempt to sideline him suggests the Giallorossi all but consider the left-back to no longer be at the club.
Cole's Roma team-mate Mohamed Salah recently underwent surgery to repair ruptured ankle ligaments, and the club wished the Egyptian well…

It looks like Salah didn't manage to get a private room at the hospital, as one can clearly see a fellow with a tattooed arm in the bed next to him. It's obviously nobody important otherwise Roma would have also send him their best wishes… surely?
However, a little bit of digging reveals that the image used in Roma's tweet was from Salah's Twitter page. The only difference is that unlike in the Roma image, Salah's room-mate is clear for all to see in the original – and it's none other than Cole himself.

Cole isn't the first player to fall out of favour at a club, but he may be one of the first to be cropped out of an image while recovering in hospital. Ouch.
