St Etienne striker Robert Beric has started the long rehabilitation process after undergoing surgery to repair his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The off-season signing from Rapid Vienna made an impressive start to his career in France, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances for Les Verts in all competitions.
However, his good run of form was abruptly halted by a bad challenge from Jordan Ferri during the 3-0 defeat to Lyon on the weekend just before the international break.
Beric subsequently went under the knife on Monday and will now begin the long road to recovery.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Robert Beric had an operation on Monday morning at the Clinique Mutualiste Chirurgicale in St Etienne, following a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
"The operation went well and ASSE wish him a successful recovery."
