Van Gaal still wants Ronaldo

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists he remains keen on bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, but admits any deal would be difficult to strike.

The Portuguese international left the Red Devils for Real Madrid in 2009 for a then-world record £80m, and has since become the Spanish giants' all-time record goal scorer.

Ronaldo has, however, been strongly linked with a move back to Manchester, and Van Gaal admits he will be looking to do just that.

"We are looking at all players, not just Ronaldo. But these players are mostly ungettable," said the Dutchman after Saturday's 2-1 win over Watford.

"With Ronaldo, let's wait and hope.

"Ronaldo plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. There is no trainer in the world that doesn't like him."
