Bayern München had to work hard to overcome Schalke in a 3-1 victory on Saturday, with Thomas Muller saying it's important for his team to be focused at all times.
Muller scored in injury time to finally see off the Royal Blues' stiff challenge, with the win opening an eight-point gap over second-placed BVB Dortmund, who lost 3-1 to Hamburg on Friday evening.
Often finding themselves up against teams who adopt a very defensive approach, Muller says Bayern will have to keep on putting in maximum effort to grind out victories.
"You have to work hard for every single victory in the Bundesliga," the World Cup winner said after the match. "Our opponents make it difficult for us, the back five is quite popular at the moment.
"Our opponents try everything, so we have to give 100 per cent in every match. We played reasonably well. It was annoying to concede the equaliser from a counter-attack."
Bayern are next in action on Tuesday, when they host Greek title-holders Olympiacos in a Champions League match at the Allianz Arena.
