Azpilicueta: Chelsea running low on confidence

Euro 2020 Qualifiers: England’s Jadon Sancho shows immense skills in training

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta admits they are struggling for confidence after squandering a 2-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Roma on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte’s side looked set for a UEFA Champions League win at Stamford Bridge after David Luiz and Eden Hazard put them two goals clear after 37 minutes.

However, the Serie A outfit rallied to lead 3-2 before Hazard salvaged a point for the hosts with an equaliser in the 75th minute.

“The mood at the moment is not the best,” Azpilicueta was quoted as saying by Standard Sport.

“To come back into the game to get a point is big for the team, to show the character and that we won’t give up. We had the game in our hands when we were 2-0 up, but we also had it lost when we were 3-2 down.”

The Spain international added: “The reality is we have gone three games without a win and we will try to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

“It is true we are not in our best moment. We came into the game after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.”
