Six United players make Fifpro World XI list

Six Manchester United players have been named on the 55-man shortlist for FIFA’s team of the year.

United have six players out of a total of 12 Premier League players to be included on the FIfpro World XI list.

David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku are all named, while Spurs striker Harry Kane is the only English player to be included.

The Tottenham and England striker has sparkled this year, scoring 34 times in all competitions for club and country.

Other Premier League players include Chelsea trio David Luiz, N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho and Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil also made the grade.

Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is the only other British player on the list, while his club are the best represented team with 12 players on the list. La Liga has the most players from a single league with 23.

There are seven players from the Bundesliga, six from Ligue 1, including PSG’s Neymar, and three from Serie A.

The FIFA FIFPro World11 2017 is voted on by around 25,000 professional footballers from 75 countries.

The final 11 players will be named at an awards ceremony in London next month.
