Vitas keeper makes PSV switch

PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of goalkeeper Eloy Room, beating Everton is the race for his signature – after he expressed his desire for a new challenge.

With current first-choice stopper Jeroen Zoet strongly linked with Benfica and Crystal Palace, manager Phillip Cocu prioritised the arrival of the vastly experienced Curacao international.

After ending his 15-year association with domestic rivals Vitesse Arhem – Room brings a wealth of experience to the ranks of Boeren and surprisingly joins on for a nominal fee of £360k.

The towering keeper reached the 150 game Eredivisie milestone with Vitas last season and was said to be a key target for Toffees head coach Ronald Koeman.

However, PSV subsequently won the race to secure the 28-year-old on a two-year contract.
