A Steven Mounie double on debut helped Huddersfield unexpectedly thrash Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
- Crystal Palace 0 Huddersfield 3
- Ward scores own goal
- Mounie makes it two
- Adds a second to secure the win
A James Ward own goal in the 23rd minute gave Huddersfield the perfect start to life in the Premier League and they were 2-0 up through Mounie just three minutes later.
The Benin international would then make sure his club would have a winning start to their season when he added his second and Huddersfield’s third with just 12 minutes left on the clock.

Clearly keen to prove they deserve their place in England's top flight, Huddersfield began the match full of tenacity and determination.
They took the game right to their hosts and Tom Ince nearly scored a spectacular volley mere minutes into the match but hit it straight at Wayne Hennessey.
The Terriers knew that most of the Eagles attacking threat comes through Wilfried Zaha and they swamped him with defenders every time he touch the ball and shut him down effectively.
Their early pressure finally paid dividends in the 23rd minute when Mathias Jorgensen squared the ball across goal and Ward could do nothing but deflect it into his own net.
They doubled their lead less than three minutes later through record signing Mounie. Aaron Mooy swung in an inch-perfect cross for the striker, who rose well above the defence and powered his header into the net.
Palace were caught completely off-guard by the intensity of Huddersfield and were not able to recover at all.
Ince, Jorgensen and Mounie all blew good chances to extend their lead. The hosts did have a brief spell of dominance around the hour mark, but Jonas Lossl was able to deny shots from both Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha.
Mounie finally added the Cherry on the cake with a perfectly-placed low drive from the edge of the area on 78 minutes to secure a well-deserved win to start their Premier League careers.
