Preview: Crystal Palace v Huddersfield

Frank de Boer will be eager to start his Crystal Palace tenure with a win when they host newly-promoted Huddersfield Town in their Premier League opener on Saturday.

The Eagles won two and drew two of their five pre-season friendlies, beating Maidstone United and West Brom before most recently drawing 1-1 with both Metz and Schalke 04. Their only defeat came against Liverpool.

De Boer, who is managing in the Premier League for the first time, is delighted to play in front of the home fans in his first game in charge and is hoping they will boost the players.

The former Ajax boss told his pre-match press conference, "The fans are the 12th man at home. You should feel comfortable there. I'm pleased we start at Selhurst Park."

Palace head into the clash without injured duo Connor Wickham and Jonathan Williams.

Meanwhile, the Terriers will be taking part in their first Premier League season to date. Manager David Wagner's charges earned their place in the top flight via the play-offs and have a massive challenge ahead to stay up at the first time of asking.

Despite the challenge of facing world-class opposition this campaign, Wagner insists he will stick to the philosophy that led the team to the Premier League.

The German tactician told his pre-match press conference: "We will not change our idea or our identity just because we are in the Premier League. People will recognise us as Huddersfield Town."

Huddersfield will be without Nahki Wells, Jonathan Hogg, Martin Cranie, and Jon Stankovic due to injuries.
