Benitez: Newcastle in need of more signings

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez admits the team needs more signings this transfer window, but added that some players may need to be sold first.

Club owner Mike Ashley previously assured the Spaniard that "every penny the club generates" from their promotion to the Premier League and the sale of players will be made available for signings.

However, Benitez remains frustrated with the lack of signings, having added only five players to their roster for the new season.

"We know what we need and we will try to do this until the end of the transfer window," Benitez said, according to Sky Sports. "We are now trying to move in different directions at the same time."

The need for fresh faces at Newcastle grew stronger with the recent injury to striker Dwight Gayle. The Englishman played a vital part for the Magpies as they won the Championship last season.
