Bayern suffer injury blows ahead of Supercup

FC Bayern München have suffered injuries to James Rodriguez and Thiago with David Alaba also in doubt, ahead of Saturday's Supercup tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Both Rodriguez and Thiago were forced off with an injury during last Tuesday's friendly against Liverpool, and the Bavarians since confirmed they would not be available for the Bundesliga champions' trip to DFB-Pokal Cup winners Dortmund.

Thiago is said to have an abdominal injury while Rodriguez, who recently joined on loan from Real Madrid, has a thigh strain. Meanwhile, Alaba is also in doubt with a knock although he could return if he passes a fitness test ahead of the game.

Bayern are also uncertain as to whether Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng could be available for the tie with BVB, however, coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly believes they could play some part in the contest.

The German champions have endured something of a below-par pre-season programme with a string of defeats in various competitions. This weekend's encounter is considered the curtain raiser for the new German domestic season.
