Ajax Amsterdam defender Joel Veltman has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new two-year-extension with the Eredivisie side.
Veltman has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Crystal Palace over the past month but as one of the few senior players within Marcel Keizer's squad – the Dutch giants have decided to reward the 25-year-old with a new contract which runs until the summer of 2020.
Since the departure of Davy Klaasen this off-season, the Netherlands international has been named the captain of de Godenzonen as he enters his sixth season within the first-team.
Upon the announcement of the utility defender's commitment on the club's official website, the 33-time title winners announced the signing of goalkeeper Kostas Lamprou on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old impressed last season for Willem II with 10 clean sheets in 34 games and will now compete with Andre Onana and Benjamin van Leer for a spot in the first-team.
