Liverpool smash Bayern 3-0 in Audi Cup

Liverpool were in sparkling form on Tuesday night as they beat FC Bayern Munchen 3-0 in the Audi Cup.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring on seven minutes, before helping to set up Mohamed Salah’s second with a deft backheel.

Daniel Sturridge grabbed the third goal after the break, but immediately pulled up with yet another injury and was substituted.

Jurgen Klopp's men will now face Atletico Madrid in Wednesday's final after Diego Simone’s side beat Napoli.

Liverpool's forward line of Mane, Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino blew away the Bundesliga champions in the first half with a devastating display of fast-paced attacking.

Bayern, looking to win a fourth Audi Cup, were 1-0 down inside 10 minutes when Firmino slid a ball through to Mane, who fired home via the despairing arm of Sven Ulreich.

The Bayern stopper then denied Salah with a reaction save at the near post before pulling off an even better save as he flung himself to the left and stuck out an arm to stop Moreno’s curling free kick on 25 minutes.

Liverpool’s relentless attacking finally paid off 10 minutes before the break when Mane burst clear before setting up Moreno with a cheeky flick. The Spaniard’s cross was deflected into the path of Salah, who duly headed home.

Ulreich was then given a reprieve on 71 minutes after deflecting substitute Marko Grujic's shot into his own net, officials ruling that an offside Adam Lallana had restricted the keeper’s view.

Minutes later, Sturridge ran through after beating the offside trap to add the third with a deft chip over the advancing keeper.

But instead of celebrating, Sturridge was immediately substituted at the next stoppage with a thigh strain in the only negative on an outstanding night for Klopp and his team.
