Conte: Title defence a huge challenge

Antonio Conte

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes his side remain the favourites to win the Premier League, but admits it will be a huge challenge.

The former Juventus boss won the title in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge, claiming 30 wins out of 38 games, and is aiming to successfully retain their silverware.

Conte believes his players have reason to be confident about the 2017/18 season but has warned against complacency, considering that Chelsea finished 10th in 2016 after winning the title the previous year.

When asked if Chelsea are favourites to win the league again, Conte said, according to Four Four Two: "For sure; we won the Premier League title last season. This season will be tough.

"You know what has been happening in England. Chelsea won in 2014-15 and then Leicester City won the league. So we must be careful and not take any team lightly.

"It is normal that every big team tries to reinforce their squad by bringing in quality players. That is what they have done. For sure, next season in Premier League will be a huge challenge for us."
