Amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain are planning a massive bid for Neymar, those at Barcelona hope to convince him to stay.
The French side are reportedly willing to activate the Brazilian’s €222m release clause, but Barca midfielder Ivan Rakitic insists that the 'affection he has here, he will not find anywhere'.
"The team is like a family and we all want him to stay," Rakitic told reporters in Miami. "Whatever he decides, you have to respect it 100 per cent. But as a companion and great friend, I tell him to stay with us."
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu admitted that players can choose their own fate, saying that "if they want to leave, they can decide", but hopes to keep the former Santos star.
"Well, you know Neymar is one of our best players, and so we don't want to lose that player," Bartomeu told The New York Times.
"We want him to continue, continue with us. He still has four years of his contract, so nothing else to say. But as far as Barcelona, we want him, and we need him."
