Antonio Candreva says their 2-0 win over FC Bayern München in the International Champions Cup on Thursday was important for breeding confidence ahead of the new season.
Eder scored both of the goals at The National Stadium in Singapore in the eighth and 30th minutes.
This result followed on from the 1-0 defeat of Lyon on Monday after their pre-season friendly loss to Nurnberg ahead of drawing 1-1 with Schalke.
Candreva, who set up Eder for his first goal, told the club's official website: "We attacked and defended as a team and that’s exactly what the boss asked of us.
"He wants lots of movement in both phases of the game. We’re working on that and we want to hit top form as soon as possible."
He added: "Wins always bring confidence and belief and help to boost your character," he began. "That said, we know that this is only the very beginning and we still have a lot of work to do to improve."
Argentine defender Cristian Ansaldi, meanwhile, who came on as a substitute in the match, revealed his joy at making his comeback from injury.
He said: "I’m delighted to be back after two and a half months out – everything was fine.
"This is a great win. We’re on the right track."
