Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has revealed that the club rejected a bid from AS Roma for Riyad Mahrez because it was too low.
The Algerian winger has been linked with numerous clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham, but the Foxes have turned down an official bid from the Giallorossi as it failed to meet their valuation of the player.
"I think I was quoted on the last press day that there were no bids," Shakespeare said, according to Sky Sports. "There was a bid from Roma, I was told afterwards, so I would like to put the record straight on that one.
"It was politely declined on the basis that it was a low offer. Of what that offer is, don't ask me how much because I don't know and I don't get involved in that."
The 26-year-old was ever-present for Leicester last season, making 36 Premier League appearances. He bagged six goals and made four assists in the top flight.
