Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazil U20 midfielder Douglas Luiz from Vasco Da Gama on a five-year deal.
The 19-year-old will reportedly be loaned out to another as yet unnamed side by City, as he continues his development as a footballer at the highest level.
Luiz has already made his debut as a professional with Vasco in previous seasons. The young star appears to be being groomed by the Citizens as a star for the future.
City's Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, expressed his excitement about landing the promising young player. He told the club’s official website, "We are pleased to welcome Douglas.
"He is an exciting player with great potential, and everyone here is looking forward to helping him develop his talent and progress in the game."
Meanwhile, City also confirmed that Luiz would be loaned out. His next destination would only be made known at a later date.
"The club will make a further statement about Douglas’ immediate development pathway in the coming days."
