Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that Serie A side Napoli have expressed interest in signing goalkeeper Bernd Leno ahead of the new season.
The Italian side are resigned to the exit of veteran Pepe Reina this summer and have begun the process of finding an adequate replacement.
However, the 25-year-old Germany international, who is said to be rated around the €15million mark, will not be leaving the BayArena – according to the club’s director of sport.
Rudi Voller conceded the sales of defenders Danny da Costa, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Ömer Toprak and playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu means they are in a position to resists any forthcoming bids.
“It’s true that Napoli want Leno, but nothing will come of it,” Voller told Express.
“We have already pocketed €40m from this transfer session, so Bernd will 100 per cent be staying.”
