Saul Niguez insists that he has no problem with Theo Hernandez's move to Real Madrid, provided the teenager keeps respecting his former club.
The 22-year old, fresh from signing a lucrative contract extension that will see him remain at the Vicente Calderon until 2026, says that if players do not want to be at Atletico, the club should not concern itself with them.
Speaking to the media at an event marking his contract renewal, Saul briefly touched on the ordinarily sensitive topic of players crossing the city to join their more successful rivals.
"It is Theo's decision and he will know what he is doing," the central midfielder said.
"He is a player who came out of our academy and he has to have respect for where he came from and if he does indeed respect us all that I don't mind where he goes.
"If he doesn't want to be here with us then we are not going to keep him.
"We will give all our affection to those who do want to be here and those who don't want to be with us don't matter to us."
The 19-year old left-back, who has represented France at U19 and U20 level, made the cross-capitol switch for a fee of €15m and is contracted to the La Liga champions until 2023.
