Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is set to appear in court after being arrested in Los Angeles last week due to a noise complaint – while a move to Manchester United seems all but a certainty.
Reports from the UK suggest Lukaku is set for a medical at Manchester United ahead of a £75m move – with little chance of Premier League champions Chelsea spoiling the party, as was earlier reported.
The news was all but confirmed on social media by United's world record signing Paul Pogba, who posted a video on social media with Lukaku. The accompanying caption read, “See you tomorrow in training”.
But while his footballing future seems rosy, the Belgian striker found himself in hot water in the US, where he has been on holiday with Pogba.
Lukaku was given a "misdemeanour citation" after police responded to five noise complaints at the same location.
A Beverly Hills police statement said Lukaku was released at the scene following the incident, which took place several days ago on July 2. There is no indication that Pogba was also involved.
Here's the full statement from the Beverly Hills police department:
On July 2, 2017, at approximately 8:00 PM, Beverly Hills Police Department officers arrested a 24-year-old male subject by the name of Romelu Lukaku Bolingoli.
Bolingoli received a misdemeanour citation for Beverly Hills Municipal Code Violation 5-1-104 – Excessive Noise. The citation was issued after officers responded to five other noise complaints from the same location, which resulted in verbal warnings.
These noise violations occurred at a residence in Beverly Hills where Bolingoli was temporarily residing. Bolingoli was released at the scene with the citation and was not physically arrested.
Bolingoli is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on October 2, 2017.
