Hernandez signs for Real

Real Madrid have signed left-back Theo Hernandez from rivals Atletico Madrid on a long-term contract.

The 19-year-old will play understudy to experienced campaigner Marcelo, with Fabio Coentrao having join Portuguese side Sporting on loan for next season.

A statement on the Real website read: "Real Madrid C.F. and Atletico de Madrid have agreed the transfer of the player Theo Hernandez, who will be contracted to the club for the next six seasons.
"The player will be presented next Monday, 10 July at 7:30 pm, in the presidential box at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, after undergoing the corresponding medical examination.
"Later, Theo Hernandez will step out on to the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time in the Real Madrid shirt and will speak to the media in the press room."

The talented Frenchman, who has represented his country at U18, U19 and U20, Hernandez spent last season on loan with Deportivo Alaves where he helped the side to a ninth-place finish in their debut La Liga season, and a final appearance in the Copa del Rey.
