Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has committed himself to the Spanish Primera Division side until the summer of 2026.
The Spain international who starred as top goalscorer at the recent U21 European Championship, lead his country to the final against Germany and has now agreed a new five-year extension.
His agreement to pen a new deal comes as a major boost for manager Diego Simeone, with his outfit still facing another six months of their transfer ban.

"I am very happy because at Atleti we are a family and there is no better place to be," the 22-year-old told the club's website. "I will work my full potential on the field as always to pay back the trust that the club is giving to me.
José Luis Pérez Caminero, the director of football of the Spanish side paid tribute to the commitment of the academy graduate and cited his rise to prominence as a reference to strive towards for the club's youngsters.
"Saúl is an example for all the kids in our Academy," Caminero said. "He is an all-around player, with great aerial power, an amazing long distance shooting skill, a tireless worker, a young player with lots of experience.
"We should feel happy for the agreement we reached because he is such a great player and there are no limits to his growth."
Saul scored nine goals and registered four assists in 53 games in all competitions last season.
