PSV Eindhoven have launched an undisclosed bid for Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel after the Netherlands international was deemed surplus to requirements.
Van Ginkel, 24, joined the Blues in 2013 from Vitesse Arnhem, as a highly rated box-to-box midfielder earmarked as a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard.
However, after an anterior cruciate ligament injury struck, ruling the Netherlands international out for seven months – his development with the Premier League side was stifled.
Despite impressing in temporary spells away from Stamford Bridge with AC Milan, Stoke City and more recently PSV, the Dutchman is reportedly not part of manager Antonio Conte's plans for the future.
According to Eindhoven Dagblad, a permanent switch is likely to be announced over the coming days with Phillip Cocu's Eredivisie side.
Van Ginkel scored 15 goals and registered five assists in 31 games during his two loan spells with Boeren.
