Everton look set to pip Arsenal to the signing of Nigerian youngster Henry Onyekuru following his exploits in the Belgian top flight this past season.
The 20-year-old striker starred for newly-promoted Eupen in 2016/17, bagging 22 goals in 38 appearances to finish joint-top scorer in the First Division A.
Onyekuru appeared to be closing in on a move to the Emirates Stadium after revealing earlier this month that the Gunners had made an approach for his services.
But the Toffees now seem to be leading the race for the Nigeria international, who is believed to have undergone a medical on Merseyside already.
However, Onyekuru is expected to remain in Belgium to continue his development, although he will link up with champions Anderlecht on a season-long loan.
