De Boer handed reins at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have announced former Ajax and Inter Milan boss Frank de Boer as their new manager, following Sam Allardyce's departure.

De Boer has been without a club since getting the sack in November last year, after only 14 games in charge of the Nerazzurri, and is relishing the new challenge at the Eagles.

"I am thrilled to be appointed as manager of Crystal Palace," the Dutchman told the press at his unveiling on Monday.

"It is a great honour to take charge of such an historic club, a club that is known around the world for its hugely proud and passionate fan base.

"This role is a hugely exciting opportunity for me, and I cannot wait to get started in the Premier League with the players and staff here in south London."

As a manager, De Boer won the Eredivisie with Ajax in four consecutive seasons between 2011 and 2014.
