Vitesse have opened talks with Sporting CP over a possible move for striker Luc Castaingnos as a replacement for Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
Last season's top scorer for Vitas joined FC Basel last week and after the new revenue streams from the sale of Netherlands international Marvelous Nakamba to Club Brugge – Henk Fraser's side made an ambitious bid to sign Heracles forward Samuel Armenteros.
However, after their opening bid was rejected for the Swede, the Eredivisie side have turned their attention to the former Feyenoord man, who holds a prolific record in the Dutch top flight.
According to Voetbal International, the 24-year-old is valued at €2.5 million by the Portuguese club and will join Thulani Serero as the club's marquee signings – as adequate replacements for their outgoing stars.
Castaingnos has scored 52 Eredivisie goals and registered 10 assists in 131 games for De Stadionclub and FC Twente.
