FC Bayern München have responded strongly to reports linking star striker Robert Lewandowski with an off-season transfer by insisting he will stay put.
The Poland international enjoyed another sensational season at the Allianz Arena, finishing with 30 Bundesliga goals in 33 appearances, but vented his frustrations at Bayern after being pipped to the Golden Boot by Borussia Dortmund ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Lewandowski made it clear that he was deeply disappointed that no one at the club helped him in his efforts to clinch the top goalscorer award. This fueled rumours that he may sign for the likes of Chelsea or Manchester United.
However, Bayern didn't mince their words when they released a statement to Sky Sports regarding the reports, which read: "Lewandowski's contract expires 2021, he signed it not long ago.
"Lewandowski does not want to leave Bayern. There are no talks with other clubs and there won't be any. If other clubs negotiate with long-time contract players they risk a FIFA penalty."
