Spanish tax authorities have hit former Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria with a £1.76 million fine and a suspended one-year jail sentence for tax fraud.
The Paris Saint-Germain star has admitted to two counts of tax evasion, related to his image rights during his time at Los Blancos, to the total of £1.16m.
It is, however, highly unlikely that Di Maria would have to serve time in prison. Sentences of under two years are suspended in Spain, if the person in question has no criminal record.
After his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Argentina international signed for Manchester United in a £59.7m move, but he joined PSG after a frustrating season at Old Trafford.
Real superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and their former manager, Jose Mourinho, have also recently been investigated by Spanish tax authorities regarding fraud allegations.
