TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have completed the signing of record-breaking teenage defender Justin Hoogma from Eredivisie side Heracles on a long-term deal.
The left-footed centre-back made history in the Dutch top flight by becoming the youngest player to feature in every minute of the season as he helped Heraclieden to a 10th-placed finish – at the age of 19.
Hoogma has been earmarked as the ideal replacement for Niklas Sule, who moved to FC Bayern Munchen.
Heracles chairman Jan Smit admitted the club was saddened by his departure but wished him well upon his new venture in the Bundesliga.
“Heracles Almelo thus loses a talented young player. But we give Justin this important step in his career,” Smit told the club’s official website.
Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen could not hide his delight after Die Kraichgauer announced the four-year contract for the Netherlands youth international.
“Justin is a highly rated defender – a left-footer with exceptional qualities in the build-up, who has already written his young name into the history books of Dutch football,” Rosen told the official Bundesliga website.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side finished in fourth last term to qualify for the Champions League.
