World Cup Euro qualifying round-up: Ronaldo stars again

Following Friday's European 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Hungary's hopes of advancing to the 2018 showpiece appear over after they lost 1-0 to minnows Andorra.

The Andorrans won the Group B clash thanks to Marc Rebes' 26th minute strike, handing them their first competitive victory in over 65 matches.

Leaders Switzerland kept up their good form as they swept aside the Faroe Islands 2-0 with goals coming from Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri. Portugal also strengthened their grip on securing a berth in Russia as they won 3-0 against Latvia, Cristiano Ronaldo grabbing a brace and Andre Silva adding a third.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria's hopes also took a knock after they lost 2-1 to Belarus in Group A after goals from Mikhail Sivakow and Pavel Savitski, while Georgi Kostadinov got a late reply.

In Group H, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Greece played out to a 0-0 draw as their battle for second spot in the standings continues behind leaders Belgium. The Belgians were far from convincing but still managed to win 2-0 after Dries Mertens and Nacer Chadli scored in either half.

In other matches, Gibraltar lost 2-1 at home to Cyprus in a Group H contest that has very little meaning in terms of challenging for a spot in the World Cup.

Holland predictably thrashed minnows Luxembourg as Arjen Robben, Wesley Schneider, Georginio Wijnaldum, Quincy Promes and Vincent Janssen were on target in Group A. Sweden's late 2-1 victory over France dashed Oranje's hope of qualifying as they remain out of striking distance of the top two.
