Switzerland international midfielder Gelson Fernandes has expressed his delight at signing for Eintracht Frankfurt, and believes the club have big ambitions.
The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal with Frankfurt after leaving Rennes in France’s Ligue 1. Last season he made 27 league appearances for the Red and Blacks.
Nonetheless, the player says he is happy to swap France for the Bundesliga until 2019, and that he wants to bring success to the Moody Diva.
The defensive midfielder, who previously spent time in the German top flight with Freiburg in 2013/14, said, “Of course I’m very happy that I can play in one of the best leagues in the world. Eintracht are a traditional club with great ambition, and I would like to help them build on what they have accomplished so far.”
Meanwhile, Eintracht’s sporting director Fredi Bobic hailed the signing, “We expect Gelson to provide extra support in midfield. He brings a lot of experience and will give our game more stability. Gelson will be a real asset to us.”
