Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos says he will never play in the Bundesliga again, having left FC Bayern München for the Spanish champions in 2014.
The 27-year-old has been central to Real’s charge in Europe this season, and will be hoping to join a select group of players to win Champions League titles with more than one club when they take on Juventus in the final in Cardiff on Saturday.
And, having enjoyed his stay in Spain, Kroos does not see himself returning to Bayern or the German league, saying that ship has long sailed.
“A return is not an option. I had six wonderful years at Bayern during which we won a lot of silverware,” the World Cup winner told Bild.
“Why would I wan to rekindle that? The Bayern chapter is over now – as is the chapter Bundesliga.
“It does not have anything to do with Bayern, but is down to the fact that I have no intention of returning to the Bundesliga.
“There are no other options at the same level as Bayern,” said the Germany international, whose contract at the Santiago Bernabeu runs until June 2022.
