Celta Vigo sporting director Felipe Minambres has indicated that there is interest at the club in bringing Nolito back to Estadio de Balaídos from Manchester City.
The winger was one of Pep Guardiola’s first signings at City, agreeing to an €18m move shortly after the completion of the 2016 European Championship where he featured prominently for Spain.
However, the 30-year old found himself on the fringes of the Citizens squad throughout the season, making only 19 Premier League appearances – 10 of which were as substitute.
In a recent conversation with Cope, Nolito spoke about his desire to return to Spain, indicating that he has little confidence in winning back his spot in the starting lineup.
"I'm crazy about returning to Spain," he said. "City keep signing players, we'll see if they'll let me leave easily.
"I hope I can leave, whether it's on loan, a transfer or whatever. I have several teams I'd prefer to join. I know Atletico, Celta… but they're things for my agent."
Speaking with reporters at a press conference, the latter club’s sporting director, Felipe Minambre, was full of praise for his former winger, indicating that he would be welcomed back if a deal could be agreed.
"Nolito is an interesting player, who played and succeeded here,” Minambre said.
"He is a great player, but in order for things to be completed with Nolito, just as with the majority of signings, three parties have to be in agreement. This, at times, is not easy.
"It is one thing is to be interested and another thing that we can get it done."
