AC Milan have started negotiations with VfL Wolfsburg to sign defender Ricardo Rodriguez, according to the player’s agent Fabio Parisi.
The Switzerland international, still just 24, has been with Die Wolfe for six seasons already, and would be Milan’s second defensive signing after recruiting Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal on Tuesday.
Parisi revealed that the deal is close to completion, after it was held up by Wolfsburg’s involvement in a relegation play-off against Eintracht Braunschweig, which they won 2-0 to retain their place in the Bundesliga.
"The negotiations are continuing, it's just Wolfsburg were tied up with the relegation play-offs," Parisi told Radio24.
"The basic details are sorted out, we go forward and there's a very good chance it will go through. I really think the move will be completed.
"Everyone wants to finalise the move, the player wants to join Milan and Milan want to sign him. We just had to wait for the Wolfsburg result."
