Bale rested, Ronaldo to start

Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez says his side must perform well against Malmo in Group A of the Champions League on Tuesday night despite leaving out several key players.

Los Blancos have already qualified for the second round of the competition and need just a draw to ensure they top the group.

Benitez has chosen to rest keeper Keylor Navas, midfielder Luka Modric and forward Gareth Bale, but included Cristiano Ronaldo to ensure Madrid still have enough firepower up front.

"This isn't an ordinary match, but while we respect Malmo we'll also be thinking ahead to beating Villarreal," Benitez told BBC Sport.

"We have to try and win with a good performance to keep confidence high. We've won our last four matches.

"The mood around the camp won't change if it's not a great match. However, if we do play well and win it will have a positive effect on morale."

The game takes place at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, while second placed Paris St Germaine host Shakhtar Donetsk at Parc des Princes.
