Head-to-head summary:

RB Leipzig 1 0 0 1

Previous encounter:

Bayern 3-0 Leipzig 21 December 2016 (Bundesliga)

Bayern goalscorers: T. Alcântara (17′), X. Alonso (25′), R. Lewandowski (45′)

Players to watch:

In a head to head battle for the gong of Bundesliga top scorer with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Robert Lewandowski will be wanting to add to his 28 league goals on Saturday. Both forwards are on the same total and it could come down to the wire as to who takes it.

Timo Werner has displayed his prestigious talent this season by banging in 19 goals and he will no doubt be motivated to continue his scoring streak against the Bavarians. The 21-year-old appears to be one of Germany’s hottest striking talents.

Team form and manager quotes:

Bulls coach Ralph Hasenhüttl is determined his side secure second position in what has been a superb season. He told his club’s official Twitter account: “Of course we still have targets for the season. We want to secure 2nd place and to break the points record for a newly-promoted team.”

Meanwhile, with the title already in the bag coach Carlo Ancelotti says his side nonetheless have full respect for second-placed Leipzig. He told reporters: “I think Leipzig had a special season. They were really, really good. They played really well until now. They deserve totally to reach second place. They were a really fantastic opponent.”

Team news:

Centre-back Willi Orban is the only doubt due to an ankle injury for the Bulls, but Dayot Upamecano has filled in capably in the heart of defence in recent weeks.

For the visitors, Javi Martinez, Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich are all ruled out through injury although the rest of the squad is available. Tom Starke will start in goal.
