Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen will soon make his debut in the Bundesliga, says VfL Wolfsburg manager Andries Jonker.
Osumhen, who starred at the U17 World Cup in October 2015 by netting 10 goals to help Nigeria win a record fifth title, joined Wolfsburg in January on a three-year contract, days after he turned 18.
A combination of injuries and fitness issues have delayed his debut, but he was in the match squad for the first time in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt last week.
Although he didn't come off the bench, his debut his imminent, says Jonker, who expects a bright future for the Ultimate Strikers Academy product.
"He has made a very good impression, he has great potential in him. He is ambitious, quick and highly unpredictable, he will be a star in the future if he maintains his focus," Jonker told the media.
And the Wolfsburg boss looks set to again include Osimhen in the squad, ahead of another youngster, Borja Mayoral, in Saturday's home league clash against VfL Borussia Monchengladbach.
"Both are different, Victor is a different type of player, strong, quick and hardworking. He will be in the squad for our next game. His debut is close," he said.
