Japanese club Gamba Osaka have been fined after a fan brandished a flag with Nazi insignia during a J-League match.
The flag bore the ‘SS’ insignia in the same style as the Nazi’s ruthless paramilitary force during World War Two.
It was seen by the press during an away J-League clash against rivals Cerezo Osaka on 16 April. Subsequently, league officials have fined the Japanese outfit two million Yen.
Officials at Gamba managed to locate the individuals responsible and have banned them from attending matches and issued a ban on all flag and banners for home and away matches.
Gamba were recently knocked out of the AFC Champions League but are third on the J-League table and face Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo on Sunday.
