Totti evades retirement questions

Hirscher ‘not sure if he’s ready for another year’

Roma talisman Francesco Totti has avoided announcing his retirement, insisting that the team’s objectives are more important at the moment.

The 40-year-old looked set to hang up his boots at the end of the season, after new sporting director Monchi revealed that the striker would take up a directorial role.

However, Totti has refused to confirm that he will be retiring when the season comes to a close and stated that such talks would have to be put on the back burner.

"Today I answered the umpteenth question about my future with a joke," Totti wrote on his official website.

"All I know is that Juve comes to Rome on Sunday and I'm thinking only of that because we're fighting right to end of the championship and Roma comes before everything else.

"The rest can follow on afterwards and there'll be time to talk about it."
