Full report

With FC Seoul already eliminated before the fixture even started it was up to the Urawa Red Diamonds to push for a result in order to progress as Group winners into the round of 16.

However, the J-League side were on the back foot for most of the encounter and forced into long range efforts on the off foray towards the Seoul penalty area.

The South Korean side's performance would have irked the home fans, wondering how their side failed to remain in contention for qualification, but they were treated with a goal of supreme quality.

In what was the only goal of the game, the home side shocked Mihailo Petrovic's men with a devastating counter attack.

Forward Maurinho picked up a pass in the centre of the pitch before losing his marker and slotting a brilliant through ball through the heart of the Reds defence for midfielder Lee Seok-hyun to run onto.

The former Incheon United playmaker then lured goalkeeper Tomoya Ugajin off his line and squared the ball to Yoon Seung-won, who prodded the ball into an empty net.

Hwang Sun-hong's men had a host of further chances in the second half to double their advantage but their inefficiencies in front of goal indicated why they were eliminated at this stage of the competition.

With Shanghai SIPG also losing to Western Sydney Wanderers, the Japanese outfit remained in top spot due to goal difference and head to head advantage to book a fixture against Jeju United.

The first-leg fixture will take place on the 24 May and the second on the 31st.
