Sunday’s Eredivisie Wrap

Feyenoord suffered a 3-0 defeat to Excelsior to see their lead at the top of the Eredivisie standings cut to just one point as Ajax thumped Go Ahead Eagles, on Sunday.

Three second-half goals condemned Feyenoord to defeat as Nigel Hasselbaink (56), Stanley Elbers (59) and Ryan Koolwijk (65) all found the back of the net.

Ajax though had no trouble seeing off the league's bottom side, with Justin Kluivert (24) Kasper Dolberg (29), Frenkie de Jong (48) and Mateo Casierra (71) all doing the business for the second-placed side – in a match where Marcel Ritzmaier saw red for the visitors on 80 minutes.

Elsewhere, Groningen held PSV to a 1-1 draw where Sam Lammers (59) netted in the second half to secure a point following Mimoun Mahi's (11) early opener.

Roda JC had Abdul Ajagun to thank for his 90th minute goal in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Willem II while Willem Janssen also popped up late on in his match, to hand Utrecht a 1-0 win over Vitesse.

In the day's other games, Heracles eased past ADO Den Haag 4-0 with goals from Reuven Niemeijer (5, 12), Samuel Armenteros (71) and Thomas Bruns (90), while NEC caused an upset as they defeated AZ 2-1. Julian von Haacke (30) opened the scoring for the hosts before a leveller from Alireza Jahanbakhsh (43). Ridgeciano Haps saw red on the hour mark, and NEC made their one-man advantage count as Taiwo Awoniyi (88) claimed the win with his late goal.

PEC Zwolle also picked up a vital three points, in their 2-1 defeat of Heerenveen.

Danny Holla (29) and Queensy Menig (47) were on target – this after Ouasim Bouy was dismissed in the 18th minute. Reza Ghoochannejhad scored a 90th minute consolation goal.

And Martin Pusic's (66) goal was enough to hand Sparta Rotterdam a 1-0 victory over Twente.
