The agent of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has denied reports that his client is on the brink of a return to the Italian Serie A.
The 23-year-old Croatian, who joined Los Blancos from Internazionale last season for a reported €29 million on a six-year contract, has often played second fiddle to compatriot Luka Modric this season, although he has featured 26 times in the league.
But with Inter forced into the sale of the player, due to financial fair play regulations and Kovacic now struggling to earn a regular starting berth, reports in Italian media have touted AC Milan and AS Roma as possible destinations for the Croatia international in the off season.
However, his agent Nikky Vuksan rubbished the claims as Kovacic still has four-years left on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and remains in good spirits amongst Zinedine Zidane's squad.
"There is no news. Or rather, there is no chance of a return to Serie A," Vuksan told TuttoMercato.
"Mateo has a very long contract with Real Madrid, which runs to 2021. So I don't understand where all these rumours and this speculation on his future are coming from.
"Kovacic plays for a huge club like Real Madrid and he is very happy. Every day I hear and read stories that explain his possible departure, but there’s absolutely no truth to them.
"He has a great rapport with his teammates and the Coach, so I can only make it very clear: Kovacic will not leave Real Madrid, he will certainly be staying," he added.
"Anything other than my words is just rumour. There's no truth to it."
