Lingard: Rashford is amazing

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard labeled Marcus Rashford "amazing" following his midweek exploits in the Europa League against Celta Vigo.

The teenage forward scored with an incredible free-kick reminiscent to the technique David Beckham famously honed during his days at Old Trafford to hand the Red Devils a slender one-goal advantage in the semi-finals.

And after the crucial away goal put Jose Mourinho's side one step from the final, Lingard revealed how his fellow academy graduate has been training at set-pieces leading up to the memorable strike at Balaidos.

"He's been amazing and he's come tremendously far," the 24-year-old said. "It's all about hard work and dedication, you know – he's just got to keep going now. Hopefully, if we get to the final, he can score again.

"He's been put on set-pieces lately, and he told me to move out of the way when he was taking it, so I did. I think it helped put the goalkeeper off, because he took a step to his left and that opened up the space for Marcus to score.

"With me, Rashy and Mkhitaryan going forward, I think we exploited the space against Celta Vigo and counter-attacked really well. I think having that pace can be important."

Rashford has scored 11 goals and registered six assists in 48 games across all competitions for United this season.
