Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he would welcome veteran striker Jermain Defoe to the club if he showed interest in such a move.
The 34-year-old helped the Black Cats stay up last season, under the guidance of Allardyce, and the manager would be happy to work with the forward again.
With Sunderland relegated to the Championship, Defoe may likely be looking to move on to another top-flight club.
However, the Palace boss also stated that he is unable to plan transfers for next season until the club's Premier League status is secured.
"If we are safe and Jermain Defoe is available, and he wants to come to Crystal Palace, I would be interested," he said, according to the Express.
"Until that time, when we are safe, I can't pursue that. When we are safe, someone else who is already safe may already have done it. Who knows?"
