Group E leaders JSW Bengaluru of India can make it four wins from four in this year’s AFC Cup with victory at Abahani Limited Dhaka on Wednesday.
The two teams are set to clash at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, with Bengaluru looking for a repeat of the performance that saw them win the reverse fixture two weeks ago in Bangalore.
A victory will also ensure they stay at least three points clear at the top of the standings, with Maziya currently breathing down their necks.
Bengaluru welcome back Cameron Watson and Sandesh Jhingan from suspension for the all-important clash.
For Abahani, there is little more than pride to play for. The Bangladesh Premier League champions have lost all three of their AFC Cup matches to date, and will be desperate for a better showing this time around.
Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu hopes his players can rise to the occasion.
“We have nothing left only to restore some of our pride, I have asked my players to take the field to win the match, we want win the match for the club as well for the country, and I sincerely believe it is not all an impossible task,” said Rupu.
The last fixture between the two teams saw Abahani go down 2-0, although they had their chances in that match and the result might have been different had they taken them.
“We have to convert the chances into goals, we have been missing a lot of chances and paying for it, we hope that will not happen in Dhaka,” Rupu added.
