Borussia Dortmund have received a major boost with the news that midfielder Nuri Sahin could still play a part in the final stretch of the Bundesliga season.
Thomas Tuchel was concerned that the Turkey international would miss the rest of their campaign following a crunching tackle from Tobias Strobl in the 3-2 win over VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.
However, according to the club’s official website, the 28-year-old suffered a ‘partial tear in an ankle’ and not a cruciate ligament injury, after limping off the field of play on Saturday.
“Nuri Sahin suffered a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament in his ankle in the Bundesliga game away to Mönchengladbach on Saturday,” the statement read.
Sahin has only featured in 160 minutes of Bundesliga football this season.
