Boeung Ket Angkor host Johor Darul Ta’zim in a match that could determine the fate of Group F in the AFC Cup on Wednesday.
The Cambodian club, currently sitting in third in the group on four points with just one win, need a vicotry if they are to sneak into the next round.
Conversely, a win for the 2015 AFC Cup champions will all but secure them a place in the zonal semi-finals.
Boeung Ket have struggled at AFC Cup level in 2017, suffering heavy loses to Johor DT and Global FC. But there is a silver lining. A narrow 1-0 win over Myanmar’s Magwe last month got their campaign back on track.
Added to that, Boeung Ket are on a roll in their domestic league, winning their last three games on the trot to move to third on the C-League table.
Similarly, Johor DT are on a six win streak in the Malaysian Super League and are sitting pretty at the top of the table after ten matches.
In terms of AFC Cup action, the former champions suffered their first loss of their 2017 campaign on Matchday 4, where an inspired Global FC won 3-2 in Manila, overturning their 4-0 loss on Matchday 3.
Should Johor DT fail to get the job done against Boeung Ket, they can take comfort in the fact that they host lowly Magwe in the final group stage clash, where they would be overwhelming favourites to secure three points.
