Home FC march past Yadanarbon in AFC Cup

Singapore outfit Home United defeated Myanmar National League side Yadanabon FC 4-1 in Group H of the AFC Cup at Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday to qualify for the knockout stage.

The result means the S.League side win the group after four games with nine points and are followed by Yadanarbon with four points from three games while at the bottom with one point is Than Quang Ninh.

The Home goals came via Afiq Yunos, Faris Ramli, Irfan Fandi and Adam Swandi, while for the visitors, defender Sithu Aung scored late in the first half.

The Singapore side basically killed the game off with three first half goals and always looked to be in charge.

In the first half, Yadanarbon had Yan Paing red-carded as did Home when Sirina Camara was given his marching orders for violent conduct. Then right at the end of the match, Yadanabon were down to nine-men when Ye Ko Oo was shown a red card.

The opening goal came in the 12th minute when a corner was headed on by Stipe Plazibat for Yunos to score with another header to beat goalkeeper Pyae Lyan Aung and give his side the 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later Home went 2-0 up after Hlaing Bo Bo fouled Ramli in the area and referee Mooud Bonyadifard awarded a penalty which Ramli duly converted.

The home side then got their third goal in the 26th minute when Fandi scored with a left-footed shot after receiving the ball from Yunos.

The visiting Yadanarbon looked to make a fight of it when they pulled a goal back just before the half-time break as Aung scored with a low shot to beat keeper Hassan Sunny to make it 3-1.

The game was pretty much killed off in the 72nd minute when Swandi scored with a long-range shot after receiving the ball from Ramli to make it 4-1 in a thoroughly deserved victory.
