Ronaldo hits 100 European goals with Bayern brace

Just when you thought it was safe not to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese legend reached yet another career landmark during Wednesday’s Champions League match against FC Bayern Munchen when he became the first player in history to score 100 goals in European club competition.

The Real Madrid legend's two goals against Bayern took his Champions League tally to 97. Add to that two goals in the UEFA Super Cup and one in Champions League qualifying and you reach the magical three figures.

It had been 659 minutes since his last strike in the Champions League – against Dortmund in a 2-2 draw back in September – in what is a drought of Biblical proportions for Ronaldo.

But he finally grabbed a goal to break the barren patch in the 47th minute when he tucked Dani Carvajal’s cross past Manuel Neuer to bring Real level, before adding a second 30 minutes later when he poked Marco Asensio’s cross through Neuer’s legs.

That makes 100 goals in 143 games, a sensational record that books him another place in the record books – although it may not last long as rival Lionel Messi is just three goals behind him (97 goals in just 118 games).

But for now let’s just stand back and admire the glint from Ronaldo’s teeth as the man truly is a living legend!
